"The Anne Frank House museum says it has reached an agreement with the Netherlands Institute for War Documentation which allows the museum to now permanently exhibit Frank's diaries and other writings as part of activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of her birth." Emilee and I plan to visit Anne Frank's house this summer. Twenty six years ago, Lee and I visited Anne Frank's house/museum in Amsterdam. Between seeing her house and Dachau four years prior, I can honestly say I came away a changed person. In fact, I think I border on obsesson with learning more about the Holocaust. Last year at the Stansted Airport in London, I purchased a book by a reporter from BBC about Auschwitz. It was very interesting (and heavy) reading, explaining the evolution of Auschwitz. It wasn't planned from the very beginning to be a "killing machine". One "problem" led to another which led to another... I think my "obssession" is because I am trying to understand HOW the Holocaust could happen. As for Anne Frank, to visit her house really drives home the reality of the book we all read in high school! How Anne and her family, Peter, and the Van Pels could all live upstairs in the attic ("Secret Annex" for two years is beyond my comprehension....Truly, I hope to never understand.
